Wednesday June 25, 2014 (4am update)

Well... We have had quite the week up here in buffalo. Where do I begin?!? I will apologize in advance for the long email but a lot has happened and I figured this was the easiest way to let everyone know what is going on.
With Brian super busy with football we decided that he would drive me and the kids up last Wednesday to my parents, fly back to NJ and then fly back to buffalo on the 25th after work so we could all spend a week together here. Well... On Saturday night my sisters son griffin and Teegan started with a fever. So they took griff to a pediatric immediate care where he was diagnosed with the Coxsacki Virus also know as "hand foot mouth disease"

It's a virus and highly contagious  :( high fever and sores all in the mouth hand and feet. It can present different in each kid and It can last up to 10 days but only contagious during the fever.  But mouth sores are the worst bc it's painful and can't eat or drink so fear of dehydration... Very common for kids this age bc of how easily it can spread and they can get it anywhere... So we have been dealing with that now for the last 4 days! It's been just awful! Griffin had the mouth sores really bad and Teegan is just covered with the body sores and red bumps! Then yesterday my sister started having a sore throat and fever (very rare for adults to get it full blown bc they probably had some form of the virus when they were a kid but may get a variation of it)  then last night I had a slight fever and sore throat! But nothing I couldn't handle... My parents have been amazing taking care of us all and we have done everything possible to try and make sure Nolan doesn't get this! Well... I'm writing this email at 3am while sitting in the Children's Hospital here in Buffalo! Because last night around10pm Nolan had a rectal temp of 101.4 at home so called our dr and said to go in right away! When we got here he was at 102.4
They were not sure if it's the virus so bc he is only 6wks old they need to do a complete work up.
He's on IV fluids and had a broad spectrum antibiotic but did a chest X-ray, had to draw blood, catheterize him for urine and then a spinal tap to to check for infections :(  It's been horrible to first see Teegan go through her ordeal (and still dealing) and now him! We did everything to try and make sure he wasn't infected but the dr said it's so contagious that it's almost a given that anyone in contact will get it. So dr just came in and said he is comfortable discharging him. All tests can back ok so probably a virus and will need to let it run it's course.

We were planning on having Nolan's baptism on Saturday but as of now I am not sure what we will do. We will obviously keep everyone posted.
Please say a little prayer for my little ones and hope this passes soon. By far the hardest week of my life to see them go through this and not be able to help.
